Don’t Overlook These Fundamentals If You Want To Generate More Leads
In order to generate more leads, we first need to get people's attention and then grab their interest. But how do you do this? There are two fundamental elements you can't overlook. Hi, I am Tim Fitzpatrick with Rialto Marketing, where we believe marketing shouldn't be difficult. All you need is the right plan.
I want to thank you so much for taking the time to tune in. I'm flying solo today. This is gonna be a short episode, but it's a really, really important concept for marketing. So how do we get people's attention and grab their interest?
We talk about pain and or we talk about pleasure. The pain or the problem that they have and the result or the benefit that they're looking for. That's how we grab attention and gain interest. This is nothing new, but so many people miss it. So I want to share with you a slightly different take on this. This take was shared with me from Dov Gordon over at Profitable Relationships.
I thought it was such a cool way of thinking about it, and so I wanted to share it with you. If you don't know Dov Gordon, go check him out at Profitable Relationships dot com. Super smart guy. And I love how he breaks things down and just his thought process. But I thought this was such a clever way of thinking about this.
So here's what Dov said. He said we can grab attention and gain interest by talking about one of two things. First, a problem people have and don't want. Say that again, a problem people have and don't want. Okay, same thing as pain or the problem.
Okay, but we're talking about a problem they have and don't want, or a result they want and don't have. A result they want and don't have. Right. Same thing as pleasure, right? Or a result or benefit that they're looking for. Okay, those are the only two ways that we can grab attention and gain interest, and it's not enough to just grab attention.
Once we grab people's attention, we have to get their interest so that they continue to read that message and take that action that we want them to take. You have to get both. You have to get attention and you have to get interest. I talk about the marketing fundamentals all the time, what they are, why they are so critically important, and how to get them in place. If you want to generate more leads, you first need to understand your ideal clients better than they understand themselves as it relates to what you do.
We need to be able to enter the conversation that our ideal clients are having. In their head. And when we can do that, and we can truly understand our ideal clients, then and only then can we articulate the problem they have and don't want, and a result they want and don't have. And we need to be able to articulate that message in their words, not ours, because they're not going to understand our words. They are going to understand their words.
So we need to be able to articulate the problem they have and don't want and the result they want and don't have in their words. And when you can do that, you will grab attention, you will gain interest and you will start generating more leads. I know this is not an overly complicated concept, but it is one that so many people miss entirely, or at least part of it, and things don't click. Super super important thing to not miss. So I hope this slightly different take on pain and pleasure or surviving and thriving resonates with you.
